SpamAssassin – Antispam Ninja

23 December 2011no comments Internet, Open Source

Ever wondered how spam filter works? what are the signatures to consider in an email to mark it as a  spam? Hackers try out various methods to redirect a user into the target specific sites by carefully crafting the email messages so as to flyover the spam filter, but in vain, the spam assassin is an open source spam filter ninja waiting to chop the spamails and trash them to the spam bin.

Spam Assassin is a powerful spam filter with its wide global and local (Glocal) network tests, includes regular update of whitelist and blacklist sites.

Administrator can be comfortable in configuring the SpamAssassin, add newrules to the existing text.  As mentioned its an open source project, well its free to use and distribute with certain terms and conditions. Cheers to Apache.org! API is well designed, abstract and logic is powerfully encapsulated. SpamAssassin can be added to existing mail servers or users own mail client suite.
